How it Works and What it Costs |
The Customized Compliance Program for Asbestos is designed to run on – and look like – your website. This is done by having your IT staff or website vendor – whoever designs and manages your website – compile the web pages and post them on your server or theirs. You will have to provide them with the necessary information, of course, through your asbestos management staff and/or consultant. Environment-i-media, Inc. provides the license to use the program, facility registrations and the software, technical support and training to get you started and keep you going.
The above flow chart illustrates this process and the roles of the various participants. Your organization will be issued a license to use the program at one or more facilities that you, the Asbestos Program Manager, designate on your application. A facility is one or more buildings at a single physical location. You will provide information on the facility including ACM in the building(s) from your survey report or database. Your asbestos consultant may have this information already, or your own staff may have it. You will provide your IT staff or website vendor with instructions for managing the program on your website, including access constraints to control who sees the program after it is posted. Environment-i-media, Inc. will provide your IT staff or website vendor with specifications and templates for the web pages that comprise the Customized Compliance Program for Asbestos. These materials will describe the content of the web pages, the functionality of the links that connect them, the supporting files to build them, and the basic layout of the pages. They will not have the appearance of finished web pages: that is for the IT staff or website vendor to determine so that they look like your own website when it is posted. Your asbestos management staff and/or consultant will compile the information that the IT staff or website vendor needs to create the web pages and supporting files. This information consists of floor plans and photos of the buildings(s) showing the locations of the ACM, descriptions and quantities of the ACM, and pre-formatted precautions against disturbance. The Customized Compliance Program for Asbestos uses the ASTM E2356* assessment protocol for the Current Condition and Potential for Disturbance of the ACMs and expresses the information in tables and three-dimensional color charts, using data collected by the asbestos management staff and/or consultant. For school districts, web pages that present the AHERA assessments are created, and links are provided to the documents required by AHERA. Throughout this whole process, Andy Oberta, the creator of the Customized Compliance Program for Asbestos, will provide technical support and training, and an initial orientation visit to your facility by Mr. Oberta is suggested. Technical support is for use of the program and does not include consulting services, such as bulk sampling, that require licensing or accreditation. (These services can be provided by Mr. Oberta in Texas under a separate contractual arrangement.) Note that Environment-i-media, Inc has a contractual and financial relationship with the building owner or manager, and not with the asbestos consultant or website vendor. |
What does it cost? The license fee of $995 per licensee (building owner) covers all facilities under control of the licensee. This fee includes the software templates and specifications, the registration charge for the first facility and two hours of technical support. A registration fee of $195 per additional facility covers all buildings at that facility and includes another two hours of technical support that can be used at any facility. Additional technical support is billed at $100/hr – this rate also applies to site visits, which are billed for on-site time plus travel expenses.
You will also have costs for your own staff and/or consultants to compile the information needed for the program, and your IT staff and/or website vendor to create and post the web pages. These costs will depend mainly on the size of your building(s) and how much asbestos-containing materials are in them. If you can provide this information these costs can be roughly estimated. |
